Yes but unless you are a big company OR plan on reselling it is not worth it.

You would need server side software. IE MS Server / Apache ETC.

Cheaper just to pay 1 dollar a month

You definitely could, but you leave yourself open to vulnerabilities, and you also kill your connection. If you%26#039;re running on cable or DSL, I%26#039;d highly recommend you pay like $7 a month at HostGator.com - that%26#039;s pocket change for something much better than your own desktop.

Other Replys:Hi! well yeah technically you can use your Desktop as a web server but it is very limitted, I recommend you use Ubuntu Server edition because it brings all the necessary tools to make your desktop a server, Red Hat needs more configuration than Ubuntu and its harder. But I wouldnt recommend to use your Desktop as it is for a web server, but yeah you can make it a web server.
